New SHINEDOWN Track 'Devour' To Hit Radio On Friday
May 1, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports that SHINEDOWN's latest single "Devour" will hit radio stations at noon on Friday (May 2),and a clip of the song is already available for fans to listen to at the band's MySpace page.
Singer Brent Smith says "Devour" was inspired by a trip the band took to Iraq. "We were able to go, about two and a half years ago, to Kuwait and Iraq," he says. "I looked at a lot of people that were there, men and women from all different kinds of walks of life, all different races, all nationalities, and there was like a lot of them that were really desensitized, they were tired. So I wrote this song called 'Devour' about the end of George W. Bush's presidency. And what I thought of what he's done over the time that he was president. I hope that he will hear the song and that he'll want to sit down and talk with me about it, I'd like to ask him a couple questions."
"Devour" is from the band's upcoming third album, "The Sound Of Madness", which comes out June 24. The track will serve as the theme song to World Wrestling Entertainment's June 29 pay-per-view event, "Night of Champions". The single will also be featured on ESPN throughout the current major league baseball season, and will be included on the soundtrack to EA Sports' Madden NFL 09 video game.
SHINEDOWN will start touring this month, beginning with a May 9 performance at Band Camp 2008 in Jacksonville, Florida, and other headlining shows and festival appearances. A full tour schedule will be announced soon.
SHINEDOWN recently replaced guitarist Jasin Todd with former SILVERTIDE member Nick Perri, and replaced bassist Brad Stewart with Eric Bass.
